Better SERP Rankings – Better Targeting

Here is a breakdown of the things I’ve learned in the SEO process of most of my new sites, SERPs are a good source of traffic and authority of a certain page or site, to make sure you get the right SERPs and/or multiple SERPs you need to make sure things are properly formatted on your site and here is how I do it.

Positioning

Probably the easiest thing I figured out, google searches for words in the same sentence not necessarily to be in the same manner as searched, what I mean is that the site with the following as its description can easily rank for “SEO Blog

Running a Seo site is hard, learn tips and tricks at our blog

It's important that you string the words along so that you can rank for a number of things and no matter what keyword you target for link wise your site will keep up and perform much better then it would with constant changes to its title’s. For example the following sentence:

Bigger Blog – Better SEO, SEM tips blog

…can rank for :

  1. SEO Tips
  2. SEM Tips
  3. SEO Blog
  4. SEM Blog
  5. Blog SEO
  6. Blog SEM
  7. Blog Tips
  8. Big SEO Tips
  9. Big Blog Tips
  10. Big SEM Tips
  11. Better SEO tips
  12. Better SEM tips

Mix ‘n’ Match Meta Tags & Titles

This is where I push the envelope, that's when I really want to land a keyword for a page/site, adding meta tags and titles (header,h1,h2..etc) that are highly relevant to the keyword I am trying to target.

For example, if you are trying to land the keyword: Repairing Ipods
You can try.

  • Page Title: How to repair iPods – IpodShop
  • Meta keywords: iPod repairs, repairing iPods, how to repair iPods – Note: from smaller keywords to bigger/longer ones..better formatting, helps rankings a tiny bit
  • Meta description: How to repair iPods article by IpodShop. repairing Ipods made easy.
  • H1 on-page: Repairing Ipods
  • H2 on-page: Step 1: Open iPod for repairs

Micro Link Exchange

It’s just like buying links within the content on other sites to get better SERPs but this case just ask for a link on an already existing article in return they get the same from you and at no cost!

I call it micro link exchange because although the link is on just one of the hundreds of pages a site has it holds a lot more value than a site-wide link especially because its an in-content link, that’s more like a reference than just a link, a reference is considered much stronger and juicier then a header/sitewide link with tons of exposure, it's for google anyways so let's stick with tactics and not traffic.

Link Love

If you have a page that’s going down in SERPs then you need to find pages/sites that are relevant to your topic but have much more info and strength then yours has then link to them to get a better ranking as well as more satisfied readers. The most commonly linked site is Wikipedia because if you are linking to Wikipedia, Google will automatically start becoming more and more interested.
